Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority invites undergraduate and graduate students to join our Operations internship. This Associate Engineer internship offers hands-on experience with mentors and leadership to solve real-world transit challenges affecting customers and employees.

Locations span the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area with field and office assignments. Interns may rotate across departments such as Bus/Rail Operations, Safety, Engineering, IT, and planning, gaining exposure

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a high school equivalency certificate; must be attending college/university.
• The intern's major must align with the position's academic and functional requirements.
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year of college.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
• Progressive internship opportunities require favorable prior performance for subsequent summers.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, reviews and analyzes data; operates a PC to verify, input and correct data for reports.
• Researches data for and assists in preparing management/operations reports; uses data to complete assignments.
• Produces presentations, reports, and graphic representations of data and project plans.
• Reviews reports to identify problems and recommends solutions as instructed.
• Participates in training sessions and attends meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participates in and/or leads departmental meetings and working sessions.
