Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is offering an Associate Engineer internship within Operations. The program provides hands-on transit experience, mentorship from senior leaders, and exposure to multiple departments across the DC/MD/VA region.

Assignments may rotate among offices and field sites during the summer. Interns will assist with data handling, reporting, and communications while gaining practical knowledge of transit operations, safety, and business functions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of personal computers and standard office equipment.
• Knowledgeable of spreadsheet, word processing, and databases.
• Ability to analyze numerical data and prepare reports.
• Effective communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Compile, review and analyze data; verify and input data for reports.
• Research data for management/operations reports; create supporting materials.
• Produce presentations, reports, and data visualizations for assigned department.
• Attend trainings and meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participate in and/or lead departmental meetings and working sessions.
