Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is offering an Associate Engineer internship in Operations across the DC/MD/VA area. The program provides hands-on, practical transit industry experience with mentors and leadership, for college and graduate students during the summer (up to 13 weeks).

Interns may rotate across departments such as Bus/Rail Operations, Safety, IT, Planning and more, and are supervised by a department executive or designee.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or HS equivalency.
• Must be attending an accredited college/university pursuing a degree.
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
• Progressive internships require favorable prior performance evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Duties vary by department and may include data collection and analysis.
• Verify, input and correct data for reports.
• Prepare management and operations reports, and related documents.
• Produce presentations, reports and data visuals.
• Review reports and identify problems; suggest solutions.
• Participate in trainings and department meetings.
