Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is offering an Associate Engineer internship within Operations for undergraduate and graduate students seeking hands-on experience in transit services. Assignments span Bus/ Rail Operations, Safety, IT, Engineering and more, across office and field settings in the DC Maryland Virginia area.

Interns rotate across departments, are supervised by executives, and engage in data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Qualifications

• Must be attending an accredited college/university pursuing a degree related to the internship.
• The intern's major must align with the academic and functional requirements of the position.
• Must have completed their freshman year and be entering their sophomore year of college.
• The intern must possess a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA.
• In cases where the internship is a progressive internship offering consecutive summer opportunities through graduation, the intern must receive a favorable performance evaluation for the prior summer.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, reviews and analyzes data; inputs and verifies data for reports.
• Researches data and assists in preparing management, operations, technical and administrative reports.
• Produces presentations, reports and data visuals for the assigned department.
• Reviews reports to identify problems and suggests solutions under supervision.
• Participates in trainings and attends meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participates in and/or leads departmental meetings and working sessions.
