Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is offering an Associate Engineer internship within Operations. The program provides hands-on, summer transit industry experience across departments such as Bus/Rail Operations, Safety, IT, and Planning.

Interns rotate to assignments suited to their major and are supervised by executives or designees. Responsibilities include data analysis, producing reports and presentations, and attending departmental meetings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a college or university degree aligned with the intern’s department.
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in compiling, reviewing and analyzing data for reports.
• Support preparation of management, operations, technical and administrative reports.
• Produce work products such as presentations, reports, and data visuals by department.
• Attend training sessions and participate in departmental meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Assist in data-driven problem identification and solution recommendations.
