About the Firm:

Our client is a highly respected Am Law 100 firm known for its sophisticated work in the music and entertainment industries. Their Music Industry Practice is nationally recognized for its depth of experience in copyright and transactional law.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Transactional Copyright Associate/Attorney to join the firm’s leading Music Industry Practice. This position is ideal for a mid-level attorney with 4 to 6 years of experience in copyright and entertainment transactions. The role involves managing a wide range of copyright-based deals, including licensing, acquisitions, and other intellectual property transactions, particularly in the music sector.

This is a unique opportunity to work with iconic clients in the music industry and contribute to a dynamic team focused on cutting-edge legal issues in copyright law.

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiate, draft, and review music-related agreements (licensing, catalog sales, publishing deals, etc.).
• Manage complex IP transactions from beginning to end.
• Advise clients on U.S. copyright law and evolving industry standards.
• Work directly with artists, publishers, record labels, and streaming services.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative legal solutions.
• Conduct due diligence and risk assessment in IP-related deals.

Job Requirements:

• JD from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing in NY or MA.
• 4–6 years of post-JD legal experience in transactional copyright law.
• Significant experience with licensing, purchasing, and/or selling music or other IP assets.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience working with music or entertainment industry clients is highly preferred.

Education:

• Bar admission in New York or Massachusetts is required.
