Qualifications

• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Walk up to 6 miles a day on uneven ground and lift up to 80 pounds.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment.
• Strong safety focus and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Work in train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Carry out instructions detailing a train's route and movements.
• Coordinate switching of cars and movement signals.
• Observe and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Signal crew members for engine movement via signals or radio.
• Follow GCOR, general orders and bulletins.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals in emergencies.
• Move on and off moving or stationary equipment.
• Complete forms like train orders and switch lists.
