Job summary

CPKC is hiring a Conductor to join North America’s first transnational railroad. The role requires being part of a 24/7 crew, with training provided over 15 weeks and earnings during training. You’ll work outdoors in all weather and may be away from home for extended periods.

The position offers career growth toward Yard Foreperson or Locomotive Engineer, with a strong focus on safety and teamwork. Applicants must be 18+, hold a HS diploma, and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Physically demanding work including walking long distances and lifting up to 80 lbs.
• Willingness for unscheduled shift work in a 24/7 operating environment.
• Working up to 12 hour shifts including days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to report to work within a two hour call window.
• Must be 18+ with HS diploma and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work in either train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Coordinate switching of cars and movement of trains.
• Observe signals and relay instructions to crew.
• Operate signals or radio to manage engine movements.
• Follow GCOR, general orders and bulletins.
• Prepare reports and train orders with legible handwriting.
