CPKC in Shreveport, LA is hiring for a Conductor. You will join a train crew, assist in switching rail cars, and help move trains in yards while prioritizing safety and compliance with GCOR rules.

The role requires willingness to work unscheduled 24/7 shifts, up to 12-hour days, outdoor work in all weather, and extensive travel (80–90%). Training lasts 15 weeks with paid classroom and on‑the‑job components.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to perform physically demanding work.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking.
• Excellent communication and radio instruction skills.
• Read and understand safety rules in English.

Responsibilities

• Work in either train or yard service based on seniority.
• Carry out route and movements instructions.
• Coordinate switching of cars and coupling operations.
• Observe signals and relay movement information.
• Signal crew using signals or radio for train movement.
• Prepare clear and legible reports and forms.
• Handle emergencies and apply basic first aid.
