Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Shop Trailer Mechanic II for our on-site shop in the United States. The role performs certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and some heavy repairs on trailers, with welding and fabrication tasks.

You will work under a Sr Shop Trailer Technician, assisting with advanced repairs and learning additional skills. The position emphasizes safety, accurate documentation on RO, and collaboration with the shop team to meet repair estimates and purchase orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related field experience or equivalent.
• 3 years' experience in trailer/vehicle maintenance or related field.
• ASE T8 certification within 18 months is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform certified DOT inspections and PM inspections on trailers and vehicles.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain trailer components such as brakes, air lines, pumps, and engines.
• Weld, fabricate, replace panels and framework; assist higher level technicians.
• Maintain safety, adhere to company policies, and document work and RO details.
• Coordinate with Service Writer and parts to obtain approvals and orders.
