Job summary

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Shop Trailer Mechanic II. This on-site position is dedicated to in-shop work, not roadside emergencies.

The Technician II will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and duties such as aluminum work, trailer brakes, air lines, lifts, welding, and fabrication under supervision as needed. The role requires following safety procedures, accurate documentation on Repair Orders, and collaboration with the Shop Manager and Service Writer to

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with related field experience or equivalent.
• Must possess a set of hand tools.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge.
• ASE T8 certification or equivalent required/obtained within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
• Determine parts and coordinate with Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and tools.
• Perform DOT inspections, PMs, and light to heavy repairs in a shop setting.
• Document work and upload RO details in the system.
• Maintain shop trucks and conduct safety inspections.
• Assist higher-level technicians with diagnostics.
