Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Shop Trailer Mechanic I for on-site work at Cox facilities. You will perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and various trailer repairs, including brakes and air lines, under supervision, while adhering to safety policies.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, tool use, and collaboration with service writers and shop leadership to meet repair goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge; ability to obtain DOT medical card.
• Must complete DOT pre-employment checks and maintain MVR per policy.
• ASE 608/609 preferred, ASE T8 certification listed as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT inspections and Preventive Maintenance inspections.
• Carry out light, medium, and heavy-duty trailer repairs in a shop setting.
• Use hand tools, trailer-specific tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work on Repair Orders with photos and RO numbers.
• Maintain safety, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
