Job summary

R+L Carriers is hiring a Trailer A Mechanic at our Colonial Heights, VA service center. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers to meet manufacturer specs and FMCSA regulations, with a first shift 9am to 7:30pm, Monday through Friday.

You must lift up to 50 lbs, own basic tools, and be dependable. The job requires safety inspections, interpreting manuals, testing equipment, and performing trailer PMs and repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience performing safety inspections and FMCSA compliance documentation.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Experience repairing or replacing defective parts, components or systems.
• Experience testing equipment to meet manufacturer specs and regulations.
• Experience with trailer PMs and repairs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and own basic tools.
• Dependable and able to work in varying climate conditions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair trailers to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on trailers according to manufacturer specifications.

Trailer A Mechanic – $26.45 - $37.60/hr. - Full-Time, Monday – Friday 1st shift 9am to 7:30 pm

Requirements

• Experienced in performing safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company, and any other Federal, State, or Local regulations
• Must be able to Interpret technical manuals
• Must have experience in repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems
• Experience in testing equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations
• Experience in trailer PMs and repairs
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Must own your own tools
• Must be dependable
• Must be prepared to work in climate situation when needed.

Preferred

• Experience using Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System
• Welding
• Experience driving yard tractor/trailers
• Previous experience working on Class 8 commercial vehicles
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair
