Job summary

R+L Carriers is seeking a Trailer Mechanic in New Orleans, LA, to diagnose, repair, and maintain our trailers. The role operates full-time with Monday–Friday shifts and offers vacation after 90 days plus an extensive benefits package.

As a Trailer Mechanic, you will perform safety inspections, interpret manuals, and ensure work aligns with FMCSA and manufacturer specifications. Candidates should own tools and be able to lift 50 lbs; welding and Cetaris experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• FMCSA safety inspections and documentation requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Experience repairing or replacing defective parts or systems.
• Testing equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with specs.
• Experience with trailer PMs and repairs.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must own your own tools.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be prepared to work in varying climate conditions.

Requirements

• Experienced in performing safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company, and any other Federal, State, or Local regulations
• Must be able to Interpret technical manuals
• Must have experience in repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems
• Experience in testing equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations
• Experience in trailer PMs and repairs
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Must own your own tools
• Must be dependable
• Must be prepared to work in climate situation when needed.

Preferred

• Experience using Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System
• Welding
• Experience driving yard tractor/trailers
• Previous experience working on Class 8 commercial vehicles
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair
