Job summary

AECOM is seeking a hands-on TSMO & Traffic Management Center (TMC) Technician to support operations across Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This role emphasizes incident management, TIM training, ITS deployment, and multi‑agency coordination to improve roadway safety and mobility.

The candidate will work closely with TSMO engineers and client personnel, supporting 24/7 operations and field deployments of ITS technologies, CCTV, DMS, and traffic detection systems.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Civil, Transportation, Engineering Technology, Emergency Management, Public Safety, Computer Technology, or related discipline.
• 4 years of related experience in one or more core areas or demonstrated equivalency.
• Experience in TMC Operations, TIM, ITS, and TSMO.
• Experience coordinating with transportation agencies and public safety organizations.
• Valid U.S Driver’s License to visit project sites and offices; pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Manage and/or assist in the management of Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations.
• Monitor roadway conditions, incidents, weather impacts, and traffic operations using ITS technologies.
• Coordinate incident response activities with transportation agencies, law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and towing partners.
• Assist with incident detection, verification, response coordination, lane closure management, and traveler information.
• Support development and maintenance of TMC SOPs, operational plans, and response protocols.
• Support 24/7 operational environments as required.
• Assist in TIM training program development and delivery.
