Job summary

Bolton & Menk is seeking an ITS/Traffic Design Engineer, EIT, to join the Transportation team in Minneapolis or Plymouth. You will support project managers with planning, design, and evaluation of traffic systems including traveler information, ATMS, transit tech, ITS networks, and connected/ automated vehicles.

Required: Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, EIT or soon-to-be, interest in ITS/vehicle tech, strong writing, valid driver’s license for site travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Interest in intelligent transportation systems and connected/ automated vehicles.
• Strong technical writing skills and clear communication.
• Willingness to learn new concepts and emerging technologies.
• Valid driver's license for travel to facilities and job sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects.
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, research and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
• Assist with project plans and specifications, preparing cost and quantity take-off estimates.
• Assist with traffic corridor studies related to operations, safety, modal integration, and access management.
• Assist with design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, pavement markings, ITS, work zones, and detours.
