Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking an ITS/Traffic Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Transportation team in Minneapolis or Plymouth.

You will support project managers and engineers in planning, design, and evaluation of traffic engineering and ITS, including traveler information systems, ATMS, and connected/ automated vehicle technologies. The role emphasizes collaboration, technical writing, and learning new concepts while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire
• Interest in intelligent transportation systems, connected and automated vehicles, and other technology applications
• Strong technical writing skills
• Willingness to learn new concepts and emerging technologies
• Possess a valid drivers license as travel to various facilities and job sites may be required

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, research and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies
• Assist with project plans and specifications, preparing cost and quantity take-off estimates
• Assists with traffic corridor studies related to traffic operations, traffic safety, modal integration and access management.
• Assist with design of traffic control devices including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, roadway lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), work zones, and detours. Work may be applied to existing infrastructure of part of larger transportation improvement plans and specifications.
