Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Infrastructure Lead on the Exchange team within Institutional to own the network infrastructure, deployment, and tooling behind a unified trading platform running across cloud and on-prem venues. You will keep latency-sensitive, multi-node trading environments fast, reliable, and easy to build on.

The role combines startup ownership with Coinbase scale, mentoring engineers, leading production changes, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration with SRE/Infra,

Qualifications

• 8+ years in network, infrastructure, or SRE with ownership of production systems in latency-sensitive environments.
• Deep hands-on with multicast networking, BGP, OSPF, VRFs, and low-latency DC switching.
• Proven incident response leadership for production trading systems.
• Experience with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, SNMP or gRPC telemetry, and Python or Ansible.
• Familiar with exchange/electronic trading concepts; crypto experience is a plus.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure for institutional trading across cloud and on-prem.
• Design and maintain routing, traffic-segmentation, and multicast market-data architectures.
• Deploy and operate firewalls and secure connectivity across Fortinet and Palo Alto platforms.
• Drive observability and automation using SNMP, gRPC telemetry, latency analysis, and Python/Ansible.
• Lead safe production changes, incident response, and on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers and partner with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading-system teams.
