Job summary

Miami University in Oxford, OH seeks a Trades Specialist (Plumber) to perform complex repair and installation work in university facilities. Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

You will review job orders and blueprints, estimate materials, coordinate with contractors, and maintain tools and work areas to ensure safe, efficient project completion.

The position requires nine months of skilled-trade training plus two years of experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and two years of experience, or an equivalent education and experience.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to be a qualified driver under the University MVR policy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities and property using expertise in plumbing.
  • Reviews job orders and blueprints; inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project.
  • Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed to complete project; arranges for materials to be at job site.
  • Assists outside contractors as needed; assists crafts-persons from other trades as needed.
  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • May prepare some paperwork; may maintain files.
