This regular, hourly position requires skilled trade training, 3 years of experience, a valid driver’s license, and a 40-hour work week to support campus operations with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

  • Nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a skilled trade.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or mechanical diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Review job orders; inspect site and consult with client to determine best method to complete project.
  • Estimate materials and equipment, prepare cost estimates, and arrange for materials to be at site.
  • Perform complex repair or installation on university facilities equipment using specialized automotive training.
  • Serve as informational resource to other staff.
  • Maintain and clean tools and equipment; keep work area tidy.
  • Liaise with outside contractors and other departments; may prepare paperwork and maintain files.

Job Description Summary

Performs complex repair or construction of university facilities or property which require specialized training in a skilled trade(Automobile Technician) 2nd shift Mon through Fri, 3:30pm to 11:30pm

Essential Duties
  • Reviews job orders; inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project.
  • Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed to complete project; prepares cost estimates; arranges for materials to be at job site.
  • Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities equipment using expertise acquired through specialized Automotive/Mechanic training.
  • Serve as informational resource to other staff.
  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • May serve as liaison to outside contractors and other departments; may prepare some paperwork; may maintain some files
Minimum Qualifications
