Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 8 tractors and trailers. You will troubleshoot electrical and after‑treatment systems, inspect brakes and steering, and perform routine maintenance with a basic tool set.

Job Type: Full-time. Pay starts at $33.00 per hour. ASE certification is preferred but not required; medical, dental, PTO and other benefits are offered. Work location is in-person at our Indianapolis area fleets.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in diesel/mechanics.
• ASE certification preferred but not required.
• Basic set of tools is required to perform maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot electrical and after-treatment systems on Class 8 tractors.
• Repair trucks and trailers in a timely and efficient manner.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other critical parts.
• Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
• Repair major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials.

Responsibilities Include:

• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services such as troubleshooting and repairing electrical and after-treatment systems on our Class 8 tractors.
• Repair trucks, and trailers and related equipment in a timely and efficient manner
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper working condition
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery
• Repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials

Job Requirements:
