Job summary

Union Pacific Corporation in Melrose Park, IL is seeking a Track Laborer - Driver Eligible to join our Engineering team. You will handle and move track materials, inspect rails and beds, and work with track equipment to keep rail lines safe and efficient.

Qualifications include CDL Class A or B, outdoor work experience, welding skills, and a willingness to travel and work various shifts. This role requires adherence to safety rules and the ability to pass a PAT.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass Physical Ability Test (PAT).
• Willing to obtain CDL (Class A or B) if required by role.
• Proven experience working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Welding experience or certification is a plus.
• Experience operating heavy equipment or construction machinery is preferred.
• Familiarity with railroad maintenance of way work.

Responsibilities

• Handle, unload and move track materials and equipment from rail cars, carts or trucks.
• Replace rails, rail anchors, spikes, ballast, ties and other components.
• Work with track equipment; dig holes and trenches as needed.
• Inspect track beds and right-of-way for defects or safety concerns.
• Comply with safety, FRA and company policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with coworkers and contractors; resolve issues.
• Drive company vehicles as needed.
• Maintain track beds by clearing vegetation and debris; perform other duties as assigned.
