Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad in Melrose Park, IL is seeking a Track Laborer - Driver Eligible to join our engineering team. You will handle, unload and move track materials, inspect beds and right-of-way, and work with equipment to maintain railroad infrastructure, while complying with safety rules and FRA regulations.

This role requires physical effort, the ability to pass a PAT, and the potential to obtain a CDL if needed, with driving responsibilities and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must pass physical and medical qualifications for commercial drivers.
• Probationary period may require obtaining a CDL if operating GVWR ≥ 26,000 lbs.
• Must be able to pass a PAT before interview.

Responsibilities

• Handle, unload and move track materials and equipment from rail cars, carts or trucks.
• Remove and replace rails, rail anchors, spikes, ballast, ties and other parts as needed.
• Work with equipment; dig holes and trenches, etc.
• Observe track conditions for problems or defects and ensure safety compliance.
• Drive company vehicles as needed and maintain track beds; perform other duties as assigned.
