Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad in Kent, WA is seeking a Track Laborer - Driver Eligible to support the safe and efficient movement of trains across North America. You will handle track materials, inspect beds, and perform maintenance like rail and ballast replacements while adhering to FRA and company safety rules.

Requirements include being at least 21, valid CDL if needed for GVWR, and FMCSA medical qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 or older.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
• CDL required if GVWR is 26,000 lbs or greater; may be needed during probation.
• FMCSA medical qualifications may apply; final determination by health services.
• At least 1 year in Railroad Maintenance of Way or similar exposure.
• Welding experience or certification preferred.
• Able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and construction-like environments.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Handle, unload and move track materials and equipment from railcars, carts or trucks.
• Remove and replace rails, rail anchors, spikes, ballast, ties and related parts.
• Work with equipment; dig holes and trenches as needed.
• Observe track beds and right-of-way for problems or defects.
• Follow safety rules, FRA regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and customers.
• Drive company vehicles as required.
• Maintain track beds by vegetation control and debris removal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
