Job summary

America Works of New York is seeking a Timekeeper to ensure accurate collection and processing of participant work hours for payments, in NYC programs. The role emphasizes attention to detail, data management, and compliance with city and state regulations.

You will enter hours into payroll systems, coordinate with program staff, and prepare reports for audits, while supporting process improvements and timely participant payments at our Hunts Point site in the Bronx.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 4-year degree in a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in administrative, HR, payroll, or workforce development settings.
  • Experience with workforce programs preferred.
  • High attention to detail with strong data-entry and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Experience with payroll or time-tracking systems preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Commitment to workforce development and empowering underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify, and record timesheets and attendance logs from various program worksites.
  • Enter and maintain accurate participant hour data in timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Communicate with program coordinators, host site supervisors, and finance staff to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely submission of verified timesheets for participant payments according to schedules.
  • Track participant work hours to ensure compliance with funding guidelines and eligibility.
  • Maintain organized, confidential documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare timesheet and attendance summaries for internal and external reporting.
  • Support process improvements for timekeeping efficiency and digital record management.
  • Provide clear communication and technical assistance on timesheet submission procedures.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations to ensure payroll accuracy and timely payments.

Purpose

America Works of New York is seeking a Timekeeper to provide employment services for low-income and underserved job seeker in NYC. The Timekeeper ensures that participant work hours are accurately collected, verified, and processed for payment while maintaining compliance with city and state program regulations. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience managing data and documentation for workforce or grant-funded programs. Desired Qualifications
