Job summary

Kings Dominion in United States, Virginia, Montpelier seeks a Ride Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and rehabilitate amusement rides and attractions. You will maintain gearboxes, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, wire rope, hoists, brakes and bearings, with safety at heights up to 300 feet as a core requirement.

This full-time role requires 2–4 years of mechanical maintenance experience and the ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 2–4 years of verifiable mechanical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of gear ratios, torque and proper hand tool use.
• Familiarity with bearings, bushings, couplers and power transmission components.
• Knowledge of pneumatic or hydraulic systems (prefer both).
• Ability to work safely at heights up to 300 feet.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other required inspections of amusement rides and related equipment; takes corrective actions as issues are identified.
• Inspections are visual as well as auditory.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs and tests amusement rides and related equipment.
• Repairs or replaces major components such as hydraulic cylinders, gears, chains, sprockets, pneumatic cylinders, hoses, brakes, clutches, wheels, bearings, gearboxes, springs, etc.
• Troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems and takes corrective actions.
• Maintains documentation of repairs and inspections; submits paperwork to supervision timely.
• Maintains equipment in a safe and ready condition according to codes, laws, rules and company policies.
• Reads and applies information from manufacturer manuals and blueprints.
