Job summary

Astranis seeks a Thermal Intern for Summer 2027 to join the engineering team and contribute to hardware and software work that may head to space. Interns gain hands-on experience shaping thermal design and testing for satellite systems in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will design, test, and evaluate thermal solutions, perform analyses from simplified to detailed, and help develop assembly processes while gaining real-world spaceflight exposure with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical degree.
• Passion for hardware development in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineering to design, evaluate, build, and test satellite hardware and/or software.
• Support design trades balancing performance, resources, risk, cost and schedule.
• Perform thermal analysis from simplified to detailed levels on various hardware.
• Design, evaluate, procure and test thermal solutions such as heaters and heat pipes.
• Develop processes for integration and assembly ensuring thermal design intent.
• Plan and run thermal vacuum testing at component and spacecraft levels.
