Astranis invites a Thermal Intern for Winter 2027 in Northern California to join our engineering team. You will design, evaluate, build, and test satellite hardware and software, contributing to space-qualified projects from day one.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or related technical field.
• Strong hands-on hardware design and prototyping mindset.
• Ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
• US citizenship or green card.
• Open to applicants who do not meet all criteria.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering to design, evaluate, build, and test satellite hardware and/or software.
• Support design trades balancing performance, resources, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Perform thermal analyses on hardware such as propulsion components, batteries, high-powered electronics, RF components, PCBs.
• Design, evaluate, procure and test thermal solutions like heaters, heat pipes, TIMs, coatings.
• Develop integration and assembly processes to meet thermal design intent; collaborate with T&I teams.
• Plan and run thermal vacuum testing at component and spacecraft level.
