Job summary

Astranis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to work with our engineering team on designing, building, and testing satellite hardware and software components.

You will contribute to structure, mechanisms, and assembly processes, perform mechanical and thermal analysis, and help document procedures to improve the build workflow. This paid internship lasts twelve weeks and offers hands-on experience heading toward space-grade hardware.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
  • Interest in working with space hardware in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and/or software.
  • Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structure, bracketry, and mechanisms for spacecraft.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems.
  • Integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft and document build procedures.
