Job summary

Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Texas seeks a Rehab Therapy Technician III to support habilitative and rehabilitative therapies at Big Spring State Hospital. You will assist therapists, train staff, and help ensure treatment plans are carried out with fidelity.

The role requires driving as needed, a valid Texas driver’s license, and previous experience with psychiatric or developmental disability populations. Telework is not available and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 18 months experience working with people who have mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days after hire.
• CPR certification or obtain within 12 months.
• 18 months experience in development of treatment and support plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule.
• Directly implements treatment plans through hands-on methods and monitors progress.
• Assists in development and evaluation of treatment plans for assigned therapeutic specialty.
• Assists with functional skills assessments and prepares materials.
• Schedules and trains staff to ensure continuity of treatment plan objectives.
• Monitors program objectives, gathers data, and reports to the interdisciplinary team.
• Ensures complete paperwork to meet standards and procedures.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team process and shares results with the team.
• Provides feedback to the team and assists with treatment plan development.
