Job summary

SCAMHC in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Therapist to join our CC BHC clinic. The role focuses on timely mental health and substance use assessments, crisis intervention, and individualized treatment planning. New graduates encouraged to apply; license-eligibility preferred.

Work is in a CC BHC model with collaboration across therapists, nurses, and care coordinators. Both part-time and full-time positions are available, offering comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional support.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, mental health, or related field.

• Strong assessment, communication, crisis intervention, and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused behavioral health practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance use assessments.
• Complete initial intakes and develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans.
• Assess clinical needs and determine appropriate services and levels of care.
• Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and conflict resolution as appropriate.
• Conduct assessments and facilitate referrals for individuals who may require inpatient psychiatric treatment.
• Collaborate with therapists, psychiatric providers, nurses, care coordinators, peer support specialists, crisis staff, and other professionals to promote integrated care within the CCBHC care model.
• Coordinate referrals and connections to appropriate mental health, substance use, crisis, medical, and community-based services.
• Offer consultation and educational services to community agencies, professionals, and the general public.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with agency standards, regulatory requirements, and CCBHC guidelines.
• Promote timely access to care, continuity of services, and recovery-focused treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use needs.

Requirements

ALL candidates must be able to type and have basic computer skills, possess a valid AL driver’s license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance with a clear background check.
