Job summary

SCAMHC in Alabama is seeking a Prevention Specialist to lead substance use prevention and behavioral health education for youth and adults within a CC BCHC framework. You will collaborate with schools, families, businesses, and community partners to reduce risks and promote healthy decision-making.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant experience and/or orientation
  • Strong communication, presentation, and community engagement skills
  • Ability to work with children, adolescents, adults, schools, and community organizations
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple prevention activities and initiatives
  • Knowledge of substance use prevention, behavioral health education, and community-based programming preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with community partners and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use prevention and behavioral health awareness services to businesses, industries, schools, juvenile justice programs, and other community groups
  • Plan, organize, and conduct prevention activities for children and adolescents in schools, after-school programs, summer programs, and other community settings
  • Provide educational workshops and prevention programming for adults, families, and community stakeholders
  • Promote early intervention, healthy decision-making, resilience, and awareness of behavioral health and substance use resources
  • Coordinate and maintain communication regarding prevention activities with staff, schools, and community agencies as directed by the Prevention Director
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with school counselors, educators, community agencies, and other key stakeholders
  • Assist with grant-related activities, data collection, documentation, and reporting to support program objectives and CCBHC quality initiatives
  • Connect individuals, families, and community partners with appropriate prevention, behavioral health, and support resources within the CCBHC care model
  • Support community-wide efforts to reduce substance use risk factors and strengthen protective factors for children, families, and adults

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Prevention Specialist to join our team in Coffee County. This position operates within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, focusing on prevention, early intervention, behavioral health education, and community engagement. In this role, you will provide substance use prevention activities in accordance with grant and program objectives while working with schools, families, businesses, and community partners to increase awareness, reduce risk factors, and promote healthy decision‑making.
