Job summary

SCAMHC in Alabama seeks a dedicated Cook to join the Crisis Services team within our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. You will prepare meals, help maintain a safe, clean kitchen, and support individuals receiving crisis stabilization and behavioral health services.

The role requires reliable, flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays, with an emphasis on sanitation and teamwork in a 24/7 crisis services operation.

Qualifications

• Ability to cook, clean, and maintain an organized kitchen environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with crisis services staff.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous food service experience preferred; healthcare, residential, or behavioral health setting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for individuals receiving crisis stabilization and behavioral health services.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Follow appropriate food handling, health, safety, and agency standards.
• Assist with food storage, supply organization, and inventory monitoring.
• Coordinate with Crisis Services staff regarding meal schedules, dietary needs, and daily food service operations.
• Maintain a safe and orderly kitchen environment appropriate for a behavioral health crisis setting.
• Work independently and collaboratively with staff to support efficient 24/7 crisis services operations.
• Contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and recovery-focused environment that promotes consumer comfort, wellness, and stabilization within the CCBHC crisis care model.

This position contributes to a safe, structured, and supportive environment while helping meet the daily nutritional and wellness needs of individuals receiving crisis stabilization services.

Requirements

ALL candidates must be able to type and have basic computer skills, possess a valid AL driver’s license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance with a clear background check.
