Qualifications

  • JD and Texas license in good standing required.
  • 5+ years of legal experience with land use, zoning, or development in Texas.
  • Familiarity with Texas Local Government Code Chapters 211, 212, 245, and 372.
  • Experience advising or appearing before public boards, commissions, or councils.

Responsibilities

  • Zoning and entitlements: advise on zoning, rezoning, and ordinance amendments.
  • Subdivision and platting: review subdivisions and plat deadlines.
  • Vested rights: analyze permit vesting and grandfathering questions.
  • Boards and commissions: counsel to planning/zoning commissions and city councils.
  • Development agreements: draft and negotiate PID, TIRZ, and annexation matters.
  • Ordinance and code work: draft/update zoning ordinances and development codes.
  • General counsel duties: provide contracts, resolutions, opinions, and day-to-day advice.
