Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and a Texas law license in good standing.
• Five+ years of legal experience with substantial land use, zoning, or development work in Texas.
• Working knowledge of Chapters 211, 212, 245, and 372 of the Local Government Code.
• Experience advising or appearing before public boards, commissions, or councils.

Responsibilities

• Zoning and entitlements: advise on zoning, rezoning, and related ordinance amendments.
• Subdivision and platting: review subdivisions and plat deadlines.
• Vested rights: analyze permit vesting and grandfathering issues.
• Boards and commissions: counsel to planning and zoning commissions, boards, and councils.
• Development agreements: draft and negotiate PID, TIRZ, annexation, and ETJ matters.
• Ordinance and code work: draft and update zoning codes and regulations.
• General counsel work: provide day-to-day advice to city staff and ensure compliance with open meetings and information acts.
