Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an on-site Part-time GED/High School Equivalency exam administrator in Grayslake, IL. You will manage exam administration, ensure security of materials, and provide clear guidance to examinees, instructors, and staff across multiple campuses.

The role requires at least one year of office support, strong MS Office skills, and a focus on accuracy, inclusivity, and timely communication. If certified as a test administrator, this is a plus; travel to campuses may be needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of office support or related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with regular guidance.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain an inclusive environment.
  • Experience in an educational setting, testing center, or community college setting is desired.
  • Certification as a test administrator may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer computerized and paper-based exams according to testing standards.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of testing materials and student information.
  • Provide clear instructions and customer service to examinees, students, instructors, and staff.
  • Coordinate approved testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Schedule exam appointments and manage related communication and logistics.
  • Monitor testing environments for compliance and report suspected violations.
  • Enter placement test scores accurately into the student database.
  • Maintain testing records in FERPA compliance and complete required annual training.
  • Track and report daily testing statistics and assist with file management and departmental tasks.

Job description

  • Administer computerized and paper-based exams according to testing standards
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of testing materials and student information
  • Provide clear instructions and customer service to examinees, students, instructors, and staff
  • Coordinate approved testing accommodations for students with disabilities
  • Schedule exam appointments and manage related communication and logistics
  • Monitor testing environments for compliance and report suspected violations
  • Serve as a certified GED Examiner and ensure secure administration of High School Equivalency exams
  • Maintain required testing certifications and assist in training new or temporary staff
  • Set up testing workstations and report technical issues
  • Enter placement test scores accurately into the student database
  • Maintain testing records in FERPA compliance and complete required annual training
  • Track and report daily testing statistics and assist with file management and departmental tasks
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and campus events
  • Identify and recommend process enhancements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Remain stationary (sit and/or stand) greater than 50% of the time and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, reach
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Operate office equipment and computer keyboard with repetitive hand movement and fine coordination
  • Communicate to exchange information, learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions
  • Work in an office setting with occasional temperature and noise variation
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of office support or related experience
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with regular guidance and frequent check‑ins
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain a respectful, inclusive environment
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, testing center, or community college setting (desired)
  • Experience working with computer information systems used for student and employee data and reporting such as Workday (desired)
  • May require certification as a test administrator depending on the exam
  • Requires coverage at Grayslake, Southlake and Lakeshore campuses as needed
  • Flexibility to work 19 hours per week between Monday-Thursday 8:00am-9:00pm, Friday 8:00am-4:30pm and Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm
