Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Workers Compensation Production Underwriter to manage an agency territory and underwriting book of business, focusing on profitable growth, renewal retention, and excellent service.

The role involves new business development, risk selection, pricing discipline, and active partnership with agency partners and internal teams to execute territory strategies and achieve business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management, marketing or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience, with workers' compensation underwriting preferred.
• Experience managing agency relationships, pipelines, territory plans.
• Professional designation such as CPCU, ARM, AU, CIC preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of workers' compensation underwriting including exposure analysis and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Owns an assigned agency territory and book of business with profitability targets.
• Evaluates workers' compensation submissions by analyzing class codes, exposures, payroll, loss runs.
• Makes underwriting decisions within authority and escalates risks as needed.
• Prices new and renewal business in line with guidelines balancing growth and profitability.
• Develops and manages agency partnership plans and performance.
• Conducts regular agency visits and proposer meetings to communicate strategy and service expectations.
• Identifies opportunities to expand profitable production through distribution channels.
• Presents proposals to agency personnel with underwriting decisions and pricing rationale.
• Maintains knowledge of territory, competitor activity, and regulatory considerations.
• Partners with claims, loss control, audit, and operations to support performance.
• Provides high level service with proper documentation and policy adherence.
