Job summary

Homans Associates in Commack, NY is seeking a motivated Territory Manager to support the Commack branch. You will travel within the territory to call on customers, negotiate pricing, manage relationships with buyers, and help achieve sales budgets. HVAC technical knowledge and a strong negotiation skillset are essential.

The role offers competitive pay with annual compensation of about $80,000 plus commission, relocation not offered, and opportunities for growth within the HA/Watsco family.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum of three years HVAC wholesale distribution sales experience.
• Technical knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts, and accessories.
• In-depth knowledge of warehouse, purchasing, data processing, paper flow and operations procedures.
• Ability to negotiate transactions on intra- and inter-company level and mediate customer situations.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
• Travel through assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
• Display or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
• Negotiate pricing based on what the market will bear while maintaining profit goals of the company.
• Achieve or exceed territory sales budget as well as contributing additional sales to help achieve overall regional sales budgets.
• Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
• Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's delivery schedules.
• Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
• Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
• Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts along with providing information to help set usage levels.
• Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries and products.
• Attend trade shows.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree (A. A.) from two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum of three (3) years Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Wholesale Distribution Sales experience.
• Technical knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts supplies and accessories service and installation.
• In-depth knowledge of warehouse, purchasing, data processing, paper flow and operations procedures.
• Must have the ability to negotiate transactions on an intra- and inter-company level. Must possess the ability to mediate situations among customers as they arise.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Beginner to intermediate user of the Internet and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to learn new software quickly and accurately.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license along with continuous and current vehicle insurance based on Company policy.
