Job summary

Buckhead & Newport Meat and Seafood is seeking a territory sales professional in California to drive revenue for Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG). You will cultivate relationships with current and prospective customers, present products, and secure orders aligned with sales and GP goals.

Strong knowledge of meat/seafood and consultative sales is essential. The role requires self-motivation, time management, and proficiency with MS Outlook, with commissions and bonuses paid monthly.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Preferred: 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science or related studies.
• 2-year prior food service sales and culinary background preferred.
• Center of the Plate (COP) experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish, develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers in the territory.
• Make in-person visits and presentations to customers.
• Take customer orders with goals to maximize sales and gross profit.
• Coordinate orders with inside sales partners.
• Respond promptly to customer problems and needs.
• Review stock levels and transportation issues, implementing solutions quickly.
• Analyze daily/weekly sales and margin reports for improvement opportunities.
• Stay informed on product applications, market conditions and competitive activity.
• Participate in SSMG training and sales events.
• Develop relationships with accounts payable contacts.
• Coordinate with accounts receivable manager.
• Encourage early payment and manage DSOs, including COD decisions.
• Update bid files and customer profiles to ensure pricing accuracy.
