Job summary

Central State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Reading in the Department of Professional Education and Music. This role will teach literacy and reading methods courses for teacher candidates pursuing Ohio licensure, emphasizing the Science of Reading and structured literacy.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service, support curriculum development, and assist with accreditation efforts under ODHE and CAEP standards,

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Reading/Literacy Education or related field.
• Expertise in the Science of Reading and structured literacy.
• Knowledge of Ohio literacy mandates and dyslexia requirements.
• Evidence of successful P–12 or higher education teaching experience.
• Emerging record of scholarly activity.
• Commitment to preparing educators to teach diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate literacy courses aligning with standards.
• Supervise field experiences and support clinical practice placements.
• Engage in curriculum development and accreditation reporting.
• Maintain an active research agenda and present findings at conferences.
• Participate in school–university partnerships and service activities.
