Job summary

CT State Community College is seeking an Instructor in the Housatonic location (Bridgeport, CT) to teach biology courses across lecture, hybrid, and online formats. The role emphasizes student mentoring, curriculum development, and active involvement in program reviews and accreditation activities.

The successful candidate will teach 30 credit hours annually, participate in professional development, and contribute to a dynamic, inclusive learning environment at CT State.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology or related discipline.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year across assigned courses.
• Deliver courses in lecture, hybrid, and/or online formats with day and evening schedules.
• Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
• Develop curriculum and periodically update instructional materials.
• Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
• Plan and execute program-related events.
• Attend workshops, trainings, and conferences to maintain currency in the field.
