Job description

The Department of Student Engagement and Leadership is a central hub of activity within the University and Division of Student Affairs. It serves to equip students with critical tools related to leadership development. The department encompasses several opportunities for student engagement including Student Leadership Development, Registered Student Organizations, Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, the Royal Court, Fraternity & Sorority Life, New Student Orientation, and the Walter N. & Henrietta B. Ridley Student Center Operations, as well as university-wide events such as Homecoming, Viking Fest, Winter Homecoming, and Week of Welcome.

Description of Work

The coordinator for Student Engagement & Leadership is a professional position within the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership (SEAL). The coordinator is responsible for:

  1. Planning and executing New Student Orientation, Parent and Family Weekend, and Week of Welcome (WOW).
  2. Providing support for and coordinating Open House (fall, winter, spring).
  3. Offering program and event support during Homecoming, Winter Homecoming, and Viking Fest.
  4. Assisting with the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and supervision of the Orientation and Viking Voyage Leaders (VVL).
  5. Managing the Ad Astra Venue Reservations system.
  6. Providing support for leadership development trainings and workshops.
  7. Co-leading the student experience initiative.
  8. Overseeing first-year experience co-curricular activities.
  9. Supporting the department of SEAL programming and activities.
  10. Representing Student Affairs in university activities and internal/external settings as requested.
  11. Assisting other areas within the Department of Student Affairs as needed.
  12. Performing other duties as assigned by the AVC of Student Affairs.
