Job summary

The State of Minnesota's Transportation Department is hiring Temporary Snowplow Operators for Emergency, intermittent positions across District 6A in several locations, including Rochester. Shifts are 12-hour snow/ice blocks, with overtime possible and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

CDL required, pre-employment drug test, and English proficiency are mandatory. Positions may be filled as Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate; duties cover road maintenance, equipment

Qualifications

• CDL with no Airbrake Restriction; Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Drug and alcohol testing; Clearinghouse registration.
• 1 year experience in snow/ice, road maintenance, or related work.
• English reading/writing/speaking ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Handles anti-icing/de-icing chemical operations.
• Install/maintain snow fences and replace mailboxes.
• Document snow/ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Set up traffic controls and notify dispatch of incidents.
