Job summary

The State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators for MnDOT District 6, with postings in Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville and Winona. Positions are in the Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate classifications, available as emergency, intermittent roles across varied shifts during snow and ice events.

Applicants must hold a valid CDL (no airbrake restriction) with Tanker Endorsement within six months, pass pre-employment drug

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand information.
• Experience or training in snow and ice, roadway maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
