Job summary

State of Minnesota, Transportation Department, is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators for District 6 across multiple locations (Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, Winona). Positions are emergency, intermittent, with night/day shifts and possible overtime during snow events.

Opportunities are nonexempt, with CDL requirements and pre-employment drug testing; a valid license and tanker endorsement within 6 months are needed for TG/GA roles.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction from any state and obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Handles winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti‑icing/de‑icing chemicals.
• Maintains snow fences and replaces mailboxes as needed.
• Keeps documentation on snow and ice data for inventory reporting.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
