Job summary

The State of Minnesota's Transportation Department District 6 seeks temporary snowplow operators to cover snow and ice operations in multiple cities, including Albert Lea, Austin, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville and Winona. Positions are intermittent and may be full-time or part-time during snow events; shift times typically 12:00am–12:00pm or 12:00pm–12:00am with possible overtime.

CDL with Tanker endorsement required within 6 months; pre-employment drug test and Clearinghouse

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction; Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing and Clearinghouse.
• Experience in snow and ice, or education substitution with Heavy Equipment Operation program.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and understand information.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Handle winter stockpile setup and de-icing chemical transfers.
• Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences and mailboxes.
• Maintain snow and ice data documentation for inventory and resources.
• Set up traffic controls and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
