Job summary

The State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators across District 6 for snow and ice duties. Positions are emergency, temporary, with various shifts (A/B) and potential overtime during snow events. CDL required, pre-employment drug testing, and Clearinghouse registration apply.

Locations include Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, and Winona; incumbents must report within one hour when called and may work nights, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing; preplacement test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, MDMA/MDA/MDEA and 6‑AM.
• Must be registered in FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• English reading/writing/speaking ability to communicate and maintain logs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post storm cleanup.
• Transfers anti-icing and de-icing chemicals; winter stockpile setup.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintains snow and ice data for inventory/reporting; performs traffic control set-ups.
