Job summary

State of Minnesota, Transportation Department, is hiring Temporary Snowplow Operators as Emergency/Intermittent staff for District 6. Positions at multiple locations, including Albert Lea and Rochester, operate on A or B snow shifts and may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Candidates must hold a valid CDL (no Airbrake restrictions), pass drug testing, and be eligible for FMCSA Clearinghouse. Bilingual or veterans waivers may apply.

Qualifications

• Requires valid CDL with no Airbrake restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Must pass pre-placement drug test for multiple controlled substances.
• Must be registered in FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and understand information.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Inspect and prepare winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Manage anti-icing/de-icing chemical stock and transfer.
• Install, repair, maintain and remove snow fences and landmarks.
• Maintain snow/ice data and inventory records.
• Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
