Job summary

State of Minnesota is hiring Temporary Snowplow Operators for District 6 across multiple locations. Roles include Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate classifications, with emergency and intermittent status during snow and ice events.

Shifts may span nights, weekends, and holidays and require quick reporting to work. Positions offer diverse shift patterns in Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, and Winona, with pre‑employment drug testing

Qualifications

Must possess a valid CDL with no Airbrake Restriction or Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing and must pass pre‑employment drug test for controlled substances.
Must be registered in FMCSA CDL Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Experience/education substitution options: Heavy Equipment Operation program may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti‑icing and de‑icing chemicals.
Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
Performs traffic control set‑ups and/or notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
