Job summary

The State of Minnesota's MnDOT District 6 is seeking temporary Snowplow Operators to support snow and ice control across Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, and Winona. Positions are emergency, intermittent, with day/evening shifts, some weekends, and overtime possible.

CDL required and a background/drug test will be conducted. Operators may work 2–5 days, 7:00am-3:30pm or overnight snow shifts; driving heavy equipment and reporting to dispatch are core

Qualifications

Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake restriction and obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement.
Incumbent will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and must pass preplacement drug test for specified substances.
Education substitution: completion of Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program can substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
Transfers anti-icing and de-icing chemicals as needed.
Install/repair/maintain/remove snow fences and mailboxes.
Maintain snow/ice inventory documentation.
Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
